Today's game was
the first 20 goal match of the season at SBPRC,
and if the rest of the games are as exciting as
this one it will be an epic season. The game started
with two handicap goals on the board for TJ Barrack's
Piocho and they held that two goal lead for most
of the game. Piocho started off the game with
five penalty goals in the first chukker as Matt
Ladin and Julio Gracida showed ice cold calm under
pressure, but Audi stormed back with five goals
(four from the field) in the second chukker to
tie it. After that there was a lot of back and
forth. The game got a bit choppy in the 3rd but
then play opened up in the second half. Memo Gracida
connected with his son Julio for a lot of breakaways
down field, but it seemed like every time Piocho
was about to go ahead by more than that two goal
margin Juan Bollini or Luis Escobar would be there
to save the day.
Audi captain Melissa Ganzi had a lot of defensive
plays for her team and a fabulous run end to end
in the 5th chukker that just went wide of goal.
Her teammate Kris Kampsen lead all scorers with
eleven goals, including two goals in the 6th chukker
to tie the match. However it was Audi's Juan Bollini
who somehow managed to fight through every Piocho
defender with just seconds left to score the winning
goal and give Audi the win 16-15.
Last year Audi went undefeated in 20 goal matches,
and with the win today they have maintained their
streak. Come out and see us next week to see what
will happen in the Bill Triller Cup. Bill Triller
was the field and facility manager here at SBPRC
for many years who sadly passed away last winter
and we are proud to have a new tournament this
year in his honor.
