As
you enter our property down the long drive, past the historic
polo clubhouse and between the finest polo fields in the
world, you begin to leave the outside world behind. At the
end of the drive, the tennis club at SBPRC is an escape
from the everyday into a beautiful forest setting, with
sweeping mountain views and ocean breezes. The tranquil
atmosphere is contagious, almost forcing the members to
be relaxed and easygoing. The tennis clubhouse, the courts,
the pool and the spa are all openly spaced around beautiful
lawns and landscaping, adding to the feeling of luxury.
Brad Dvorak, Tennis Director, and Lance
Kronberg, Head Pro, as well as the other tennis pros at
our club, are true enthusiasts for the sport and the club.
Brad and Lance set the tone for a relaxed and friendly
atmosphere. Their playful manner on and off the court ensures
that our tennis members, both competitive and club players,
also enjoy the many social activities they oversee.
Our
tennis staff is dedicated to enriching the tennis experience
of our members. Players of every level feel like they are
part of a family here at the tennis club. New members are
invited by the tennis staff to begin their tennis experience
at the Polo Club by having a free evaluation with one of
our pros. You will immediately be introduced to fellow members
at your level of play. Our staff will be happy to help you
find new games with different people, or a last-minute partner,
or we can organize a clinic with your friends. We offer
lessons and clinics with our pros for players of any level,
and we have a weekly schedule of social tennis based on
your individual ability.
We have a busy schedule of fun-only mixers
and socials for those of you who enjoy pressure-free tennis,
and for the more competitive players we have our club championships,
USTA, Interclub, Phoenix, and Super Seniors leagues. For
the junior players we have a great summer camp for beginners,
and we are particularly proud of our year-round clinics
and independent PE program.
The
social life here at SBPRC can keep you very busy. The mixers
are a great tradition here at the tennis club, where the
pros pair everyone up with different partners to play social
tennis, and follow up the game with food and drinks. Our
goal is to have fun, and make sure all the members get to
play with people outside their regular groups. The format
changes with each event, but usually you will play a tough
round, then switch partners for a fun round of tennis.
These mixers can help remind us not to take the game too
seriously, especially if you are playing on court one in
front of everyone, and you blow an easy put-away. If you
have trouble laughing at yourself, stay off of court one
when the club is busy.
Remember your tennis membership also includes a social
membership to the Polo Club, where we host some of the finest
polo in the world. You can bring your friends to brunch
and a polo game, or many other events on the polo party
schedule.
