Name: Luke Klentner
Age: 17 years old
From: Santa Barbara
Playing for: Klentner Ranch Polo Team

When did you start playing polo?
I started playing polo competitively at 11 through interscholastic polo, but have been riding and watching my father play since I was 3.

What do you love most about the sport?
My favorite part about the sport is the satisfaction of working really hard on exercising and schooling my horses and having them play really well.

What’s the most challenging aspect of polo?
The most challenging aspect of polo for me is being patient and slowing down when trying to create an offensive play.

Tell us about your horses (or your favorite horse)?
My favorite horse is champ, he was out first homebred horses from one of my fathers all time favorite horses. He is always a very dependable chukkar for me where I’m very comfortable and I feel like I can get a lot done.

Favorite pre or post-match meal?
Before every game you can find our team eating at The Nugget in Summerland.

What’s your favorite thing to do in Santa Barbara when you’re off duty?
My favorite thing to do in Santa Barbara is going to the beach and spending time with my family and friends.

Where will polo take you next this year?
Polo has been a major motivator in life and next year I hope it takes me to a college where I can continue playing.
